How to Rename a File in Windows
Use Windows Explorer to locate the file you wish to rename and click on the
file. If you have configured your folder options to hide extensions, you will
not be able to change the file's extension this way.
Look on the left side of the file window for the section titled "File and Folder
Tasks." Click on "Rename this file," type the new name and press "Enter."
Rename a file another way by clicking on "File" on the menu bar. Select the
"Rename" menu item, type the file's new name and press "Enter."
Right-click on the file name to bring up the context menu to rename a file in a
third way. Select "Rename," type the new name of the computer file and hit
"Enter."
